Needles for Knitting - Straight or Circular

The choice between straight and circular knitting needles depends on your project and work preferences. Here are some general considerations that may help you decide:

Straight needles:

Convenient for small projects such as scarves, shawls, or other items with a small volume. Usually ranging in length from 25 to 35 cm. Allow easy handling of a small number of stitches.

Circular needles:

It is ideal for large projects such as seamless garments such as a top-down raglan sweater or a beanie hat.  It can be used for practically any project size due to the varying length of the cable part. Allow for even distribution of the project's weight, reducing strain on the hands and shoulders during long periods of work.

The total length of the circular needles, including the cable, can be from 40 to 1 m 10 cm. They may be less than 40 cm, but they are uncomfortable knitting with. In that case, it is better to use sock-knitting needles.

If you have the opportunity, try both types of needles and decide which style of work is more comfortable for you. Every knitter has their own preferences, and what works for one may not work for another. Personally, I knit everything except socks or legwarmers on circular needles. I think it's just a matter of habit :)
